The Foster City Lions Club consists of over 70 members who share a common
goal - to make our community a better place to live through involvement at
the local level. Members share in the good, friendly, warm fellowship and
social activities of the club, while participating in many of the activities
which benefit the community.
In its 39 year history, our club has been involved in many projects, some of
which are listed below:
- Sea Cloud Park Equipment Storage Building
- Community Signboards
- Installation of Park Playground Equipment
- Edgewater Park Tree Planting
- Levee Benches and Beautification
- Ryan Park Par Course
- City's First Ball Field
- Earthquake Preparedness
- Christmas Tree Lot
- Recreation Center Flagpole & Landscaping
- Audubon School Playground Equipment
- Shell Boulevard Tennis Backboard
We are currently involved in fundraising activities through:
These funds support:
- Community Blood Bank, every two months
- Senior programs, through the Parks & Recreation Department
- Youth sports (AYSO, Youth Baseball, Youth Football, cash & barbeque)
- Sight Conservation (Lions Eye Foundation, Blind Babies Foundation,
Peninsula Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Canine
Companions, Guide Dogs of the Desert)
- Hearing Conservation (Lions Hearing Foundation, Phoenix Foundation)
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Scholarships for High School graduates
- Flag Day
- Flu Clinic and diabetes screening
- Special Olympics (barbequing for athletes)
- Hillbarn Theater
- Student Speaker contest
- Donations to schools for special needs or projects
- Time and monetary support to various community organizations such as
- Daytop and Project 90 (substance abuse programs for youths and adults)
- PAL program
- Samaritan House
- Boy Scouts
- Foster City Parks and Recreation Department
- San Mateo High School Performing Arts Center
- Hillbarn Theater
- Various other community and worthy organizations
